Dr. Joy has wanted to be a dentist since the age of 7, after playing assistant while her siblings were getting dental care. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Classical Civilization from the University of California, Irvine in 2004. In 2011, she fulfilled her childhood dream by receiving her doctorate from the prestigious University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA, and was inducted into the top dental honor societies of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Tau Kappa Omega.
Upon graduation and for the next twelve years, she taught restorative dentistry and local anesthesia to first-year dental students while providing patient care in private practice. She is actively involved in the California Dental Association and participates in community outreach programs like CDA Cares, an event that provides free dental services to the community. Her passion for dentistry lies not only in providing exceptional clinical care, but in patient education and creating an experience unlike any they’ve had before.
In September 2022, Dr. Joy had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to donate her kidney to her mother. In June 2023, she and her family made the heartfelt decision to move back to their hometown of San Diego after living and working in San Francisco for fifteen years.
Outside of the office, Dr. Joy enjoys life with her high-school sweetheart Fred and their three kids: Toby, Addy, and Amaris. Together, they explore all that San Diego has to offer and enjoy the sunshine with their family and friends.
Dr. Joy is excited to join Dr. Matt, her classmate in dental school, and the Packard Dental team in providing the highest level of patient care.
